A Thought On Writing

Mark Twain said, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” Sadly, he was right. Which means that any of us who aspire to write well spend a great deal of our time trying to find the lightning.

The books highlighted here reflect more hours, days, and weeks than I care to count hunched over computer screens and printouts, searching for the words to convey my thoughts to a reader as I intended them to be. What Twain neglected to mention in his oft-repeated quote is the intensity and the passion that drives those of us who choose to write to continue the quest to express ourselves in just the right way.

If you have found your way to this site, I hope that one of the writings here serves your need. Regardless, may your quest, whether for knowledge or relief from the woes of the day, lead you to reading that fulfills your goals.
